Farms, Fitness & Fun, Colorado

I love fall, but doesn’t everyone? It’s the time of year for Halloween, seasonal changes, and where every second of daylight is treasured. In the Front Range area of Colorado, we are fortunate to have a mild climate which provides us with more than 300 days of sunshine even in the dead of the winter!  This make any season a great season to get outside and get active with your family.  So if you are looking for something to do with “the fam” (regardless their ages) before Halloween, we suggest putting on your jackets and sunglasses and head over to a Denver/Boulder pumpkin or family farm. The farms mentioned below include a bunch of free activities like hiking and biking trails, jump castles, relay races and obstacle courses, corn mazes, and hay stack pill climbs which offer a great cardio workout. There is no better way to celebrate the season than planning a fun day outdoors with the entire family and burning a few calories while you’re at it. In fact that is exactly what my family did!

Farms, Fitness & Fun, Colorado

Rock Creek Farm is one of Broomfield’s treasures and great resources!  This working farm is extremely popular this time of year and offers tons of great fun for everyone.  This year’s pumpkin patches have been moved to the back of the fields which I loved, because it allowed us to get further out onto the farm and to better enjoy the gorgeous views surrounding us.  Hiking through the many fields looking for the perfect pumpkins was not only fun but it was a work out as well!  After making our selection and exploring the new hiking trails, we made our way to the family fun center where my son jump his heart out on four different inflatable jump castles.  I found it to be an especially beautiful day with bright sunlight, a mild breeze, and smiling faces all around. Rock Creek Farms is open 9am – 6:30pm everyday and accepts cash or checks!

The Rocky Mountain Pumpkin Ranch is open weekends through October for their Autumn Harvest and Fall Festival. Bring your family and friends down from 9am – 6pm and enjoy tons of great activities for youngster and adults! This farm also features things like pony rides, airplane rides, pumpkin painting, balloon typhoon, as well as several food and sweet treat vendors.

Cottonwood Farms is open 10am – 6pm through Halloween and is Boulder’s most popular you-pick-em pumpkin patches. This farm has long been operated by the Condon family which works hard to preserve Boulder’s farming heritage and quality.  If you come for fun day here do not forget your cameras as you will likely to see some of the best views of the Rocky Mountains in the area.
