Q&A WITH JEANIE PARSONS
Q: Jeanie, are you a top producing agent?
JP: NO WAY! Top producing agents are admirable business people – and doing that much business means you are very good at getting real estate business. It means having staff, processes and procedures and generally spending your time networking, lead generating, prospecting and other ‘proven top producer techniques.’ The last place you will find me is in a sales training class. I’m a hunter-gatherer and a house whisperer. I want to spend my work time actually visiting houses and focusing on serving current clients – not working on getting new ones.
Q: That doesn’t sound like the typical approach most Realtors take. What makes you different?
JP: You’re right. When I started there were plenty of sales classes and books to read about how to make it as a new agent. The focus was on building your real estate agent empire. I decided if I couldn’t make it by simply serving clients, then I needed to find that out early on. So I concentrated on each client and how best to serve them, and as a result, my clients love working with me and keep sending me more clients. Today I get to do what I love without having to worry about lead generation or closing any particular deal. I’m free to make each client happy and satisfied with my work. I became a real estate agent because I had a passion for helping people buy and sell houses – and I’m proud of the fact that I have kept that focus, did the opposite of what I was told, and became a successful agent in spite of it all.
