Markel Homes’ North End neighborhood is Louisville’s first new community in 20 years – a remarkable milestone. Louisville has been achieving milestones, too. In 2009 and 2011 Money Magazine named Louisville the Best Place to Live in America.
Well sited off South Boulder Road at 95th Street, the North End community is close to hiking and biking trails, open space and downtown Louisville, with knockout views of the mountains.
“This is an excellent location –with the convenience of shops and services nearby,” says Sales Manager Michele Steward. “It’s easy to get to Denver, Boulder and the mountains. And it’s a great place to raise kids – Louisville has a small town feel, top-rated schools and instant access to tons of outdoor activities.”
At North End you’ll see a diverse variety of fresh Colorado-inspired architecture, in single-family homes, town homes and duplexes. All come with quality interior finishes and amenities. They are constructed with the environment in mind – green built and Energy-Star® rated, which means healthier indoor air, lower energy bills, reduced pollution and less water usage.
“We offer an array of attractive floor plans, distinct architectural styles and range of price-points. Spacious town homes and duplex homes feature attached 2-car garages, plenty of space for expansion, high ceilings and extra large windows for tons of light. They have the feel of a detached home, but without the maintenance. Single-family ranch and two-story homes are available in contemporary and traditional styles. We also build custom homes, for buyers who are looking for more space and larger yards. There really is so much to choose from here.”
Steward is quite busy. “People feel that it’s a good time to buy – whether they’re upsizing or downsizing. They have done their research and they’re looking for a great value. They are coming here for a more quality-built home, to save money in the long term.”
A New North End Homeowner
Luke Hruska and his wife and two-year old son moved from Boston to Boulder and then, in mid-December, into their single-family North End home. “We’re a growing family, and we wanted a single-family home,” Hruska says. “We looked all over Boulder and other communities, including nearby Louisville construction.”
The Hruskas chose to live in North End for two reasons: 1. The value in Louisville, and 2. The value in Markel Homes.
“We chose Louisville for the schools, and my wife fell in love with Markel Homes. Our home is very contemporary – a 2012 home. With four-bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, garage and basement, it’s a place for us to grow into. It’s well designed, energy efficient, very current, with quality construction. We love the indoor and outdoor architecture, the living space. We’re very excited about where we’ve landed.”
And, Hruska says, “We think we’re making a solid investment. Long term is what makes Markel especially attractive.”
They were involved in the entire home building process. “We were told it would take six months from groundbreaking to closing. I stood in amazement, as the supervisor was accurate to the day. It was a seamless process, from my perspective.” They were pleased when the same supervisor described how their home had been built to 2012 energy-efficiency standards, and was packed full of exciting green features.
Markel Homes: In A Class By Itself
Markel Homes is a homegrown Boulder company that has built some of the finest communities in Boulder County over almost 40 years. The company’s forte is tasteful design, quality construction and working closely with buyers to customize their new home—offering top-notch customer service and standard features unmatched by most other builders. “We add an extra level of customer service at Markel Homes,” says Sales Manager Michele Steward.
Markel-built homes require little, if any, upgrading. “We include many of the finishes and features you’re looking for,” Steward says. “Our long list of standard items can cost a fortune with many other builders. And if you want to make changes – adjust a floor plan, move a window, or finish your home with more unique selections, we happily help you realize that vision. Our design center allowances are generous, so it’s easy to choose attractive finishes that would be upgrades elsewhere.”
Commitment To Green Building
Markel Homes utilizes green-building technology for a healthier home and planet. An Energy Star partner for years, Markel Homes has built more Energy Star homes in Boulder than any other builder, and Markel is gearing up to raise the bar again with the adoption of Energy Star’s version 3.0, a set of upgraded energy and building standards.
Sustainable construction practices, resource conservation and renewable energy efforts, combined with the home’s high-performance features, help create a smaller carbon footprint. Thanks to measures that reduce exposure to chemicals, allergens, mold and pests, families can breathe cleaner indoor air and enjoy a more comfortable indoor environment. A longer-lasting and better functioning home requires less maintenance, while less energy and water use means lower utility bills. Simply put, a green home is a sound investment and true value.
