BOULDER – The ninth annual Boulder Valley Real Estate Conference, on Nov. 15, 2016, promises to give a glimpse into what to expect for next year’s ever-changing and growing real estate landscape in Boulder Valley.

Presented by BizWest and RE/MAX of Boulder, the event delivers an intensive schedule of national keynote speakers and panels made up of local real estate experts and development officials. All told, attendees gain perspective on residential trends, commercial activity, and significant developments in Boulder and Broomfield counties.

The conference – which drew 475 attendees last year – will kick-off with a forecast from experts on what to expect for 2017 residential and commercial activity.

Taking an in-depth look at residential markets, D.B. Wilson, managing broker of RE/MAX of Boulder, presents the implications of the latest statistics on sales, listings, average and
median prices.

There will also be a talk discussing the fast-filling commercial Boulder Valley retail and industrial space, major developments, sales and the latest vacancy and leasing statistics.

Keynote speakers will spotlight emerging trends in commercial and residential real estate. “Commercial Real Estate Trends,” presented by Dr. Thomas Thibodeau, academic director of the CU Real Estate Center and professor for Global Real Estate Capital Markets, examines the role Federal Reserve decisions play in commercial real estate development.

The second keynote address, presented by John Covert, regional director, Colorado/New Mexico, Metrostudy, explores “The Big Shift” occurring in the region’s new-homes market, marked by dwindling supplies of buildable lots in larger communities while smaller towns are poised for dramatic growth.

Back by popular demand are panel discussions including “Icons of Real Estate” – featuring top real estate developers, investors and owners of commercial real estate – and “Breaking Ground” – where development directors provide a complete rundown of the region’s top projects.

Colorado’s construction defects law gets a close look in “Defective Defects Law,” moderated by Jay Kalinski, broker/owner, RE/MAX of Boulder. Panel members examine the effect the law is having on the housing market and prospects for successful reform in the 2017 legislative session.

Additional presentations include the super-hot topics “Are We in a Bubble?” and “Affordable Housing,” which examine, respectively, the impact of Boulder Valley’s soaring prices and low inventory and the new linkage fees being implemented by the City of Boulder on commercial development.

Speakers and panelists include experts from RE/MAX of Boulder, including Realtor Mike Malec, and RE/MAX Alliance, local city governments, elected city officials, mortgage companies, and housing development entities such as Boulder Housing Partners.

The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the CU-Boulder Stadium Club, Folsom Field.

Tickets can be purchased for $63.49 per person at events.bizwest.com/events/boulder-valley-real-estate-conference. Breakfast and lunch are included. The conference is open to anyone with an interest in Boulder Valley real estate. Conference attendees can earn six Van Education credits.
