Long-time residents of Boulder, Lou and Catherine Médal liked the way the homes at Tramonto were laid out and the convenience of the modern designs. They liked that the homes were more modestly sized without being too small. And they were understandably huge fans of Boulder Creek’s emphasis on main floor living.

LONGMONT – Long-time residents of Boulder, Lou and Catherine Médal moved here in 1991. At the time, they had three kids in school. Lou’s mom was also living with them. They needed plenty of space.

They chose their current house because it suited the needs of their large family, Catherine explained. “However, it has lots of stairs.” With most of the bedrooms on the second level and the laundry room all the way down in the basement, a task as simple as washing a few loads of laundry could easily turn into a serious workout.

The kids have grown up and moved out, and the Médals’ lifestyle has changed. They no longer need as many bedrooms, and they certainly don’t want the hassle of living across three levels, or the headache of maintaining a large house. They began to shop the local housing market, keen to find a ranch style home that would eliminate the need for stairs. But the pickings were slim.

“Every time we looked at a ranch, it was older,” Lou said. The kitchen and bathrooms hadn’t been updated, and the general designs felt dated. Having gone through the ordeal of renovation in their current home, they weren’t enthusiastic about tackling those kinds of projects again.

So they kept looking.

Their search led them from older ranch style homes to new condos. And while these were more modern, they were also much smaller. Then they came across the patio homes built by Boulder Creek Neighborhoods.

Immediately, Boulder Creek’s models caught their eye. They liked the way the homes were laid out. They liked the convenience of the modern designs. They liked that the homes were more modestly sized without being too small. And they were understandably huge fans of Boulder Creek’s emphasis on main floor living.

What sets Boulder Creek apart from other home builders is a simple conviction – that your home plays a significant role in how you live your life.

Tramonto Patio Homes

Boulder Creek homes are designed so that the things residents need on a daily basis are all located on the main floor. That includes the living room and kitchen, of course, but also the master suite, laundry room, and all exterior entrances.

Your home can either enhance or interfere with your lifestyle. In an effort to produce homes that actually make buyers’ lives better, Boulder Creek has done a tremendous amount of market research along the Front Range. Using the results of that research as a guide, Boulder Creek then develops floor plans that are dedicated to those that are looking for low-maintenance lifestyle.

They’ve found that their designs are really striking a chord in this market. Boulder Creek homes are designed so that the things residents need on a daily basis are all located on the main floor. That includes the living room and kitchen, of course, but also the master suite, laundry room, and all exterior entrances. Soon, lugging a load of clothes from the dryer to the bedroom won’t force the Médals to climb even a single flight of stairs.

Catherine laughs, and says, “Pretty soon I won’t have all these stairs!” That’s just one of many changes in the Médals’ near future.

But the Boulder Creek difference doesn’t stop there. In addition to the convenience of main floor living, their homes are full of other little perks that make life easier. The halls and doorways are all wide-set. Even the electrical outlets are slightly higher on the wall, making them easier to reach. Style and ease blend perfectly, making everything about the home more comfortable.

And as if all that weren’t enough, Boulder Creek homes are all built around a low-maintenance lifestyle. The actual designs of the home are the first element of this philosophy, but exterior maintenance is just as important.  Much of the yard work, including mowing and snow removal, is already taken care of. No more weekends pushing a mower. No more freezing days spent clearing snow. Those days are over.

In no time at all, the Médals were sold on Boulder Creek. All that remained was to choose a Boulder Creek community. They visited every single one in the area, looking for the perfect spot.

Location was a big factor. While Lou is retired, Catherine still runs a business in Boulder: Miss Catherine’s Creative Learning Center and Infant Care. Quick, easy access to Boulder was vital. Plus, they really like the area they’ve called home for the last quarter of a century. It has some nice amenities, and they hoped to find a new community that would fit them just as well.

The Médals enjoy entertaining, and their new home includes what Catherine describes as “a beautiful large deck.” Between the big living area on the inside and the spacious deck outside, they’ll have ample room for guests.

After checking out each different Boulder Creek Neighborhood, they settled on Tramonto in southwest Longmont. The Tramonto neighborhood has proven to be a raving success for Boulder Creek. Directly adjacent to several other high-end communities, Boulder Creek’s homes in Tramonto are competitively priced and ideally located. Downtown Boulder is a mere 15 minutes away, and Longmont is even closer. Everything from retail to dining is nearby, and the neighborhood park is a nice touch.

Having heard horror stories from friends who’ve undergone the task of building a new home, the Médals had only good things to say about their experience with Boulder Creek. “The entire staff was wonderful,” Lou said. He explained that they were welcoming, efficient, and went out of their way to keep he and Catherine in the loop throughout the process.

“We have been so impressed to get a weekly report,” Catherine said. Indeed, once a week a member of the Boulder Creek staff calls with an update on the status of their build. Lou, who enjoys photography, has been keeping a personal scrap book of the
entire process.

As Catherine remarked, “Building a house doesn’t have to be the most stressful thing in your life.”

That’s certainly the case for those who partner with Boulder Creek. At every stage, from design, to sales, to construction, the Boulder Creek team is committed to making both the home buying process and their buyers’ lives better.

It’s worth noting that the current phase of construction at Tramonto is almost done. Before long, there won’t be any new Boulder Creek homes left in this very popular neighborhood. If, like the Médals, you’re looking for a new home that’s just the right size, with easy access to Boulder and a price tag in the low $500s, now is the time to act.
