SUPERIOR – The Tuscan-inspired Villas at Calmante captivated Paul and Katherine Herzegh almost instantly. “We were on our way to our daughter’s home in Superior for dinner, saw the neighborhood and popped in,” Katherine recalled. Serendipitously, “the model was open, so we walked in and started opening cupboards and checking things out. We even helped ourselves to an M&M or two,” she said with a chuckle.
After speaking briefly with Chris Mason, the community sales manager, Paul and Katherine loved the low-maintenance lifestyle, clean lines and contemporary feel of the homes by Boulder Creek Neighborhoods. Paul and Katherine opted for a “Villa 53” which showcases a spacious kitchen, three-car garage and finished basement with space for a home theater, a guest bedroom and Paul’s “tinkering shop.” The open “entertainer’s” kitchen features an extended island for crafting homemade feasts, dual ovens, dual dish-washers, additional cabinetry, and a walk-in pantry as well as a dining area that opens into the great room. Katherine said “I like cooking and entertaining, and the kitchen was very exciting to me.” Paul continued, “I like that the rooms blend together, and there’s a separate little bar.” Paul noted that the expansive patio opens onto the home’s northwest side, “making warm weather entertaining very nice.”

The Herzeghs also enjoyed clearing out their Boulder home. “We wanted to do it while we’re healthy and can laugh about it. It’s amazing how much one acquires in the nooks and crannies,” Katherine said. “It’s nice at our age to go through things, create new memories and look forward to new opportunities.”
Katherine added, “It’s really big for us that we will be only seven-tenths of a mile from our grandchildren. Plus, if I ever get the urge to garden again, I can work in our daughter’s yard.”
While the grandchildren originally lured Paul and Katherine to Superior, the Herzeghs now adore the brilliant location and downtown revitalization. Downtown Superior is undergoing an exciting revitalization, and Denver and the Denver International Airport are about 30 minutes away.
