LOVELAND – Home design trends are always changing, but keeping up with them can allow you to appeal to today’s modern home buyer and thereby improve your home’s appeal and value. Here are some home design elements that are popular right now.

Shower doors instead of curtains

This particular trend seems to come and go. Older shower door designs look extremely dated. The shower door trend is back, but with a more modern twist. Instead of the clunky metal surrounded styles that chip and fade, modern shower doors appear seamless. There is very little hardware and mostly glass, giving a clean, simple, and modern look to bathrooms.

Big windows

Natural light makes a home feel spacious and cheery. Thus, it’s no surprise that it’s one of the latest home design trends. Big windows or even full walls of windows allow you to maximize both sunshine and views. If you have a view worth showing off, then big windows are the way to go!

A focus on accents

Accents are a big thing right now and every major room in your home should have one. Walk into your living room, kitchen, or bedroom and what do you notice first? Better yet, ask yourself what you want people to notice. Accents can be accomplished in many different ways, including a splash of wall color, a dramatic ceiling, or a spectacular piece of furniture or wall décor.

Extending living space

Living space need not be contained by walls. Think about extending your living space to the outdoors. With the right layout and furnishings, your backyard can be an extension of your home. From kitchens to living rooms, outdoor living areas are growing in popularity.

Bringing the outdoors in

Not only should your home extend outdoors, but you can bring some of the outdoors in as well. Infusing natural elements into home design and décor is another popular design trends. Think about natural woods and greenery and how those can enhance your living space. Botanicals are known to also improve your health and well-being, especially during winter months where you may be cooped indoors.

Hidden treasures

Sometimes it’s what you can’t see that matters. Hidden design elements, such as storage and appliances, are growing in popularity. Hidden elements allow you to create smooth and flowing décor in a room. Plus, it’s just simply cool!

These are just a few examples of design trends that are popular right now. Whether you are looking to freshen up your home or completely remodel it, keep these in mind. By appealing to potential buyers, you can maximize your home’s value when it comes time to sell,… and in the meantime, you can enjoy these modern features yourself!
