Opening Jan. 19 at Brennan by the Lake –
A new kind of model townhome is opening at Brennan by the Lake, the Erie community designed by acclaimed lifestyle builder Boulder Creek Neighborhoods.
Borrowing popular patio home features like open floorplans and main-floor living, the latest yourHouse models are innovative ranch-style townhomes that epitomize low-maintenance convenience. Two professionally designed and decorated model homes will be available to tour at 579 Brennan Circle in Erie this Saturday and Sunday Jan. 19
“We’re thrilled to showcase two distinct presentations of ranch-style townhome living in Erie,” said Jessica Champlin, Vice President of Marketing at Boulder Creek Neighborhoods, adding, “homebuyers love how we incorporate sought-after features from our patio homes into these new yourHouse models, and deliver it all with a low-maintenance lifestyle.” True, Boulder Creek knows a thing or two about ranch-style homes. The award-winning homebuilder based in Downtown Louisville has made a name across the Front Range for its low-maintenance patio home designs, targeted to those seeking a simplified way of living.
“But do I really want a townhome?”
Rita Myers-Wieringa and her husband, Glenn Wieringa, moved from Santa Fe to Colorado about a year ago to be near their daughter. A Realtor introduced them to Brennan by the Lake, and Rita and Glenn didn’t expect to prefer a townhome – “we’d already done the townhome thing after we were first married,” Rita said.
Champlin concurs, “just about every day, we hear from someone that they aren’t interested in a townhome, that they only want to look at our single family patio homes.” For many, the mention of townhome living brings to mind narrow, tunnel-like units with few windows and minimal light. “We love to challenge that perception,” Champlin says. “As we learn more about what our buyers are seeking in a home – main-floor living, a low-maintenance lifestyle, an inclusive community – so often, we find that a yourHouse townhome checks all of those boxes, and more.”
As was the case with Rita and Glenn. Though they hadn’t set out to purchase a townhome, they quickly found that the layout, look, price and quality of a yourHouse townhome by Boulder Creek at Brennan by the Lake proved to be the perfect fit. Glenn said, “It’s larger than you might expect in a townhome. I like the modern feel, the size of the great room and how the kitchen spills over into the rest of the house. We never have to go upstairs.”
Champlin adds, “These homes are standout value in Boulder County, offering nearly 2,100 square feet in Erie’s thriving community.” The “right-sized” homes, she said, feature natural light from generous windows, an open-concept living, dining and kitchen space, an attached two-car garage and – a perennial favorite – the laundry room on the main floor. Upstairs, flexible layouts accommodate a loft, guest bedrooms or office space, and an additional bathroom. “We think of it as “bonus space” that’s there when you need it, and tucked away when you don’t,” says Champlin.
Low-maintenance means more time for hobbies, travel, family
“Moving to Brennan by the Lake has been freeing,” Rita said. “We were able to get rid of excess and live simply.” Glenn said, “being able to travel without worrying about landscaping is freeing. We want to spend our days traveling, making memories.”
Residents at Brennan by the Lake have the chance to do just that, thanks to the Lifestyle Association which manages a handful of time-consuming exterior home maintenance chores – things such as shoveling snow and mowing lawns.
Rita and Glenn are “more than happy,” Glenn said, to cherish weekends without weeding, winters without shoveling and summers without trimming, mowing or house painting.
Glenn and Rita also savor the walking paths ringing Thompson Reservoir, adjacent to Brennan by the Lake, and frequently wander into Downtown Erie. “We wanted to live in an established community,” Rita said. Erie has received its share of accolades recently, as both a “Best Place” and a “Safest Place” to live in Colorado. Glenn adds, “the downtown is nice to take guests to. We like to show them the town and the Historical National Registry Heritage.”
Furthermore, “it seems like there’s always something to do,” Rita said. “The community center has a lot to offer and hosts speakers and day trips. Every weekend there’s something in Erie, from Biscuit Day and the farmer’s market to festivals.” Rita and Glenn ride their bikes to the library and even their doctor appointments.
Energy efficiency combined with durable construction
Boulder Creek Neighborhoods weaves durable construction with a commitment to low-maintenance living long before a foundation is poured, said Boulder Creek Marketing Coordinator Adrian Johnson. “Our homes are built from the outset to be low-maintenance,” he said, “helping you to worry less about the upkeep of your home and enjoy the benefits to your monthly utility budgets.” Brennan homes include top Energy Star-rated appliances and high-efficiency furnaces. After all, “durability and efficiency contribute to a low-maintenance lifestyle by reducing the likelihood of expensive home maintenance and repair projects,” Johnson said.
Champlin concurred: “From the plan designs, to the materials used, to the layout of the community and the landscaping, Boulder Creek is very intentional in building low-maintenance homes and neighborhoods that deliver lifefullness®.” She explains further, “Lifefullness is about living the life you’ve always dreamed of – but never had time for. Until now.” Low-maintenance leaves more time for hobbies, travel and family.
Glenn and Rita agreed that the best part of a Boulder Creek home may be what is missing: yard work. “Living in Santa Fe meant we had a lot of outdoor work to get anything to grow in the heat and harsh conditions,” Rita said. Brennan by the Lake is created with a Lifestyle Association that will manage a handful of exterior home maintenance chores, leaving more time for you. Rita and Glenn are “more than happy,” Glenn said, to cherish weekends without weeding, winters without shoveling and summers without trimming, mowing or house painting. They travel often and enjoy collecting vibrant art and studying history in their free time.

The draw of the Brennan by the Lake community is clear. It didn’t take long for the neighborhood to sell through the patio homes (at press time, only one quick move in single family home remains), and the townhomes are finding owners just as quickly.
