Boulder Creek’s signature lifestyle in Longmont
LONGMONT – After years of yardwork on an expansive lot skirting Longmont, Linda and John Gathman are shelving their trimmers and selling the lawn mower. “Moving to a low-maintenance home is a preemptive strike,” Linda said. “We want to downsize and organize while we have our health and while nothing else is on our plate.”
The Gathmans, however, aren’t venturing from their beloved city, where they’ve resided for 25 years this October. “Longmont is a good size for us, not too small or too large, and all our connections are here,” Linda said. John added, “When we came to Longmont, it had that small-town atmosphere, and the community feel is still present here. It’s a well-consolidated place.”
Thus, Linda and John plan to move by Christmas time into a ranch-style easyHouse® at Denio West, a low-maintenance Longmont community by the award-winning, Louisville-based homebuilder Boulder Creek Neighborhoods. Denio West Community Manager Rebecca Lucero said, “This community is ideal for those seeking the convenience of being located on 9th and Hover, along with the daily enjoyment of low-maintenance, main-floor living. You now have time to pursue your dreams and forget about shoveling snow and taking care of a yard after a busy work week.”
Indeed, Boulder Creek’s homes at Denio are more than just houses – they are a passport to a vivacious lifestyle, rich free time and the joys that it brings – whether that’s travel, adventure or time with family and friends.
Ease of living in yourHouse townhomes, easyHouse patio homes
At Denio West, yourHouse townhomes and easyHouse ranch-style patio homes empower residents to savor weekends without weeding, winters without shoveling and summers without mulching. In fact, Denio West homeowners are liberated from a slew of outdoor home maintenance chores and free to explore downtown Longmont and the surrounding area and to pursue long-neglected hobbies. “At Denio you can live where you play,” Lucero said.
yourHouse townhomes at Denio are ideal for homeowners seeking the ultimate low-maintenance, relaxed lifestyle. Boasting the “best value in Boulder County,” according to Keller Williams realtor Jake McCaffrey, yourHouse townhomes feature flexible floorplans that let the buyer decide between dual master suites, an open loft area for an office, a three-car garage, or a fourth bedroom. Ranch-style townhomes are available with main-floor master suites and secondary bedrooms upstairs.
easyHouse patio homes by Boulder Creek are designed around an open-concept floorplan. The homes are created to be comfortable both now and for years to come. With wider hallways and wider doors and all your daily necessities on the main floor, this home series will accommodate your needs even as they change. The Gathmans opted for the easyHouse 31 floorplan. “I love the fact that the bedrooms and office are tucked away,” Linda said, “and I like the modern feel of the floorplan.” Linda and John are also excited to ditch their staircase and enjoy main-floor living into retirement. “We saw the Boulder Creek home our friends bought in Erie and were impressed with the reputation of the builder,” Linda said. The yourHouse and easyHouse home series uniquely complement each other at the Denio West community and create a “vibrant community within a community,” Lucero said.
Right-sizing your home to fit your lifestyle
Epitomizing efficiency and comfort, Boulder Creek homes are uniquely spacious and right sized, which means the flexible designs maximize storage and weave living and entertaining spaces together. Outside, Colorado-inspired design showcases contemporary style and classic finishes, and covered patios and decks welcome tranquil evenings. “Building a home has given us a lot of time to downsize,” Linda said. It’s a sentiment that rings true throughout the neighborhood, Lucero explains. “So many of our Denio home buyers are coming out of bigger, family homes that just aren’t the right fit for their current lifestyle anymore. I’m really proud to be a part of that,” she said.
Low-maintenance means time to pursue hobbies, travel
Not only are Linda and John excited about a new house, but they said they’re eager for the opportunities a low-maintenance lifestyle extends. Linda walks regularly with colleagues from her days as an elementary school teacher, and John and Linda both relish afternoons with a good book. Less yard work will free up more time for their weekly movie-watching club and give John more opportunities to deliver meals as a volunteer with OUR Center in Longmont. And Linda and John are itching to return to Europe, where they’ve traveled extensively. “Before, we could travel in the winter, but not in the summer due to yard work. We won’t have that problem anymore,” Linda said.
When stateside, the Gathmans savor time outdoors. “My father was stationed in Colorado Springs during World War II when I was 10 years old,” Linda recalled. After John received his master’s degree, the couple transferred from the farmlands of Illinois to Longmont, where they raised their son. “We skied for years, but now we mainly walk. We’d like to get out to the mountains more,” Linda said. “In Illinois, once it’s fall and winter, the sun doesn’t shine,” John said. “The first October we moved here, we got a huge snowstorm, but of course, two days later it was gone. The climate here makes Colorado very nice.”
Mountain town charm & big city amenities
Denio West basks in local amenities. Lucero said, “Denio West is a golf shot away from Twin Peaks golf course. It is close to shopping, theaters, culture, parks and walking trails and only 15 minutes from Boulder and 30 minutes from beautiful Estes Park.” The Gathmans appreciate the short drive to theater performances in Denver. The farmer’s markets, festivals, gallery events, concerts, and the revitalized downtown enhance the natural wonder and hometown aura of the community.
Located at the intersection of 9th Street and Hover Road in Longmont, yourHouse townhomes and easyHouse ranch-style patio homes at Denio West start in the low $400s. The neighborhood has just a few of the larger patio homes ready for quick move in by year end (prices on those include a finished lower level and are in the mid to high $600s.) At press time, about half the homes at Denio West had found owners, and construction is moving quickly.
